Gameweek Challenge: one pick a week, no repeats
Gameweek Challenge turns the season into a weekly decision instead of a one-off pick. Every gameweek, you choose one player to represent you. Once you've used a player, they're gone for good — so the challenge isn't just picking well once, it's managing a whole season of picks so you don't run out of good options.
How it works
Each gameweek, pick one player from the competition's full pool. You score 1 point for every goal that player scores in that gameweek only — what they do in other weeks doesn't count, because you're not holding them, just borrowing them for one round. The catch: once you've picked a player, they're used up for the rest of the season. You can't go back to your best pick twice.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Picks | One player per gameweek |
| Scoring | 1 point per goal that player scores in that specific gameweek |
| Player reuse | Not allowed — each player can only be picked once all season |
| Locking | Each gameweek locks when the previous one completes, so you can plan ahead |
Who it suits
This is Scoracle's weekly format — it asks for a decision every round, not just once. If your group wants something to argue about every single week rather than a result that's mostly decided by August, this is the one. The player-reuse rule means it rewards planning across the whole season, not just picking the in-form striker every week — eventually everyone runs low on obvious picks, and the league gets decided by who managed their remaining options better.
A worked example
GW1, you pick a striker who scores twice — 2 points. You can't pick him again all season. GW2, you pick someone who blanks — 0 points, and he's used up too, for nothing. The tension builds as the run-in approaches and your remaining unused players thin out.
